OK you guys I am SO excited I can barely type this!! I entered my
4-H photography project in the Junior Division and I won
FIRST PLACE - BLUE RIBBON!!!
My project was called "Seasons on the Farm" and it was 12 photos I took throughout the year showing what our farm looks like in spring, summer, fall, and winter. I used Dad s old Minolta camera and developed them myself at the Walgreens in town. The judges said my composition was "remarkable for a young photographer" and that I had "a genuine eye for capturing the beauty of rural Iowa"!! I almost CRIED when they called my name. Mom definitely cried. Dad said he was "real proud" which for Dad is basically the same as crying LOL.

Tuesday - Opening Day
Got there right when the gates opened at 10 AM! First stop was the livestock barns. Tyler entered his rabbit in the Small Animals competition. He got a red ribbon (2nd place) and would NOT stop bragging about it all week. |
Wednesday - 4-H Day
This was the big day - all the 4-H projects were judged! I was SO nervous waiting for the results. My friend Sarah entered her quilting project and got 3rd place. We celebrated with elephant ears and lemonade! |

Thursday - Demolition Derby!!
Dad took us to the demolition derby which is basically the most exciting thing that happens in Cedar Falls all year. Jimmy Larsen from down the road won with his old Buick. It was AWESOME. I got corn dog grease on my new shirt though. |
Friday - Concert Night
They had a country music concert on the grandstand! The band was called "Prairie Wind" and they were actually really good. Me and Sarah danced the whole time. Tyler said we looked dumb but whatever Tyler you are 11. |

Saturday - Last Day
Rode the Ferris wheel THREE times because Dad felt generous. You can see the whole county from the top - all the corn fields stretching to the horizon, the Cedar River winding through town, even the water tower. It is the most beautiful view in the world and I do not care what anyone says. Iowa is the best state and the county fair is the best week of the year. Cannot wait until next summer!!
